THE DISPUTE by Marivaux, translated by Gideon Lester May 4 - 20 at 602 W. 26th St.
Directed by Ben Burford in his Collide debut, THE DISPUTE is an 18th-century romantic comedy with an incisive, modern and hilarious take on love.
WHAT: In a simulated Garden of Eden, Egle meets and falls head over heels for Azor, the only boy she’s ever seen. In their blissful state, they do not know that they are being watched. Raised in isolation, they are part of a years-long human experiment intended to settle the Court’s dispute: Who causes infidelity, men or women? Learning there are more boys and girls in the garden, Egle and Azor are delighted to have discovered more love - but they also find betrayal, jealousy, name-calling, hair-pulling and cat-fighting!
